Collectively Mad Productions, formally called Tortuga Productions started in 1999 after
two events. The first event involved Bob Gonzales and J Elizondo being involved in what could have been a
fatal car accident luckily neither was seriously hurt. The second event was the tragic and fatal collapse of
the Texas A&M Bonfire, in which twelve students lost their lives. These events and more specifically the
Bonfire collapse caused J Elizondo to seriously reconsider how he was living his life. The thoughts that
filled his mind as they do today were that those kids that died, along with the ones that were hurt were
doing something they loved and none of them or their families had any regrets. After much soul searching J
Elizondo formed Tortuga Productions with a HI-8 camcorder and the desire to make movies.
A year later after moving to Austin, TX along with AJ Jungman and Bob Gonzales Collectively
Mad Productions was officially launched with the purchase of their first real movie-making equipment.
Since that time it's been a learning process since none of the guys actually went to film school.
Contained within this site you can see some of the projects they have worked on as this learning process has progressed. See where CMP is heading with the future projects, learn more about the guys, and maybe get chance to partake in the madness.
